Waste Management, in partnership with Brevard County, is pleased to introduce a new cart program for garbage and recycling service for unincorporated Brevard County residents. The wheeled carts are more convenient for you, allow for greater service efficiency and are safer for our drivers to collect.
From a service perspective, customers love carts. Surveys from customers using automated service in Melbourne and a pilot area in unincorporated Brevard County, both topped 90% favorability from residents after a few months of use. Residents appreciated the quality of the carts, ease of use, cleaner neighborhoods from less windblown trash, and overall improved aesthetics of their community. And carts help keep our Waste Management drivers safe as they avoid injuries from the repetitive nature of getting in and out of their trucks and lifting heavy loads while also minimizing the risk of being hit by inattentive drivers.
Your 64-gallon garbage and 64-gallon recycling cart will be delivered to your home between August 1st and September 27th, 2013. Please do not begin using your carts until the week of September 30th, 2013. The cart program requires an Automated Side Loader Truck for collection so it is important residents do not use their carts until the program begins the week of September 30th, 2013 when our trucks will be equipped with the correct equipment.
In addition, Waste Management is proud to announce we will be converting our local fleet to Compressed Natural Gas fueled vehicles and constructing a new, $12-million
Material Recovery Facility to process recyclables.
For more than 40 years, Waste Management has provided safe, reliable and professional garbage, recycling, and yard waste service for the residents of Brevard County. We are committed to making the transition to carts in a timely and hassle free manner.
